The work is inspired by the architectural motif of the Allen Lambert Galleria, the geometry of a single snowflake, and the falling of snow through a gentle breeze.
To arrive at the design of Gust, artist-team Studio F Minus considered how the Y-shaped structural members in the Galleria were inspired by fractal patterns occurring in nature.
Gust is conceived in tandem with the artworks Frost in the Allen Lambert Galleria, and Flurry on the Concourse Level, to create a visual theme for the holiday season that stretches across all of Brookfield Place.
About the Artist
Studio F Minus creates public conversations through art. The team is comprised of Mitchell F Chan, Brad Hindson, and Michael Simon working with a network of world-class fabricators, engineers, and technologists.
Studio F Minus’ creative process is driven by two core principles: considering the public experience, and capturing public values. Because each site we create for is different, each of our artworks is unique.
