About the work
The sophisticated and contemporary ground floor lobby is vibrant and spacious, over 28 feet or 8.5 m tall, with an abundance of natural light. Featured on the south wall of the ground floor lobby, is a light installation commissioned by Brookfield and designed by James Turrell, an American artist residing in Arizona who has worked directly with light and space to create artworks that engage viewers with the limits and wonder of human perception for over half a century.
“My work has no object, no image and no focus. With no object, no image and no focus, what are you looking at? You are looking at you looking. What is important to me is to create an experience of wordless thought.” – James Turrell
Artist/rapper Drake drew inspiration from James Turrell’s light installations for his “Hotline Bling” music video.
